Diesel and gasoline-fueled landscaping equipment emits smog-forming pollution. In addition to the emissions benefit, electric landscaping equipment is also quieter for both the operator and those nearby. The Lawn and Garden Equipment Program helps Butte County landscapers, businesses, and residents replace their existing gas-powered lawn and garden equipment with cordless battery-powered equipment.

Vouchers can be used to purchase new cordless battery-powered chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, leaf blowers, and mowers. Commercial vouchers range from $700 to $15,000 depending on equipment type. Residential vouchers range from $200 to $2,000. The voucher can also help cover the cost of extra batteries and charging equipment.

Vouchers can only be redeemed with participating merchants and the old combustion equipment must be destroyed in coordination with participating merchants as part of this program.
